Welcome to Starlight Arcade V1.6 – the seventh installment of my first game. This last month, I spent a lot of time on the back end of things, revamping the parameters for the enemies and hazards within the game, as well as the procedural generation system in the game. So, while you won’t see a lot of new enemies and effects this time, the background should look more realistic and the enemy areas and hazard zones should show a more definite change – so you know when you are entering into a new area.
On top of that, I have introduced high scores for the first time. And a max distance. The game should now be able to track your individual highs and notify you when you beat them in a round. I was able to do this using the PlayerPrefs system in Unity and I hope to expand upon this in the future, adding things like level progression and upgrades. However, PlayerPrefs has its limits, so I am currently stuck trying to develop a more powerful save system. Unfortunately, said save system does not have as much support for a web platform as it does for just about any other platform.
Stay tuned though, because I will figure it out; and then it’s off to the races in terms of what stories I can create. I’ve also got some scenes for planets in the works!
Let me know what you think so far.
